BLAZER finished for his Field Trial Champion (FTC) title in CANADA in 2002 running in Large Pack on hare trials. He has earned 4 wins in CANADA and also placed in nearly every trial he ever entered in CANADA.

BLAZER finished for his Field Champion (FC) and International Field Champion (IFC) titles in the USA on August 09, 2003 when he won the Claremont Beagle Club's 50th Anniversary trial in NH, which was a 7-hour Large Pack on hare trial that started with 31 little males. BLAZER has wins and places running in Large Pack on hare and Small Pack Option on rabbit trials. He has earned 6 wins in the USA in AKC licensed trials between April and August 2003.

BLAZER has the following major accomplishments to his credit so far:
• BLAZER was the 13" High Hound Male for the Maritimes Association in Nova Scotia, CANADA in 2002.
• BLAZER was the 13" High Hound Male for all CKC Large Pack field trials in CANADA in 2002.
• BLAZER was the Runner Up for the 13" Male ALL CANADA AWARD in 2002 which includes a total of licensed field trial points earned by Canadian owned dogs running in both the USA and CANADA.
• BLAZER is the 13" Male BETTER BEAGLING PACK HOUND AWARD WINNER for 2003.

BLAZER is a true 13" Beagle which stands between 12 1/8" and 12 3/4" tall; BLAZER has been official measured in the AKC at 12 1/8" tall. He is an extremely beautiful hound and very intelligent. He is very muscular and solidly built. BLAZER handles like a dream and he has perfect kennel manners. When running in field trials, BLAZER has a high gear that will accurately lead any size pack, even 30 or more dogs all day long, for as long as it takes to win. BLAZER can also gear it down a notch or two when he is running in a Large Pack competition with less than 15 to 20 hounds or in a Small Pack Option trial with only 7 hounds. Whether running Large Pack or Small Pack Option trials, BLAZER will lead the pack for 85% or more of every single run.

BLAZER has an excellent nose; superior line control; and awesomely fast, foot speed. I welcome anyone owning a medium-speed AKC SPO field champion to drop that hound down with BLAZER in a brace format and watch BLAZER out check, out line-run, and out foot that dog to the point it will make that field champion look like a started puppy. BLAZER truly does live up to his name because he is blazing fast. BLAZER is quick to work out a check (often within the diameters of a circle the size of a hula-hoop) and he claims the line with authority. If you have never seen a dog run a hare or rabbit as fast as a sight chase and with as much accuracy as the best medium-speed SPO field champions running today, then you have to make the effort to come and see BLAZER.

IFC MURRAY'S LITTLE BLAZER is the progeny of the late and great sire IFC BRANKO'S HELI-PROP and his dam FTC GORDIE'S BLACK BROOK JASMIN. Both of these dogs have made their mark as great field champions as well as superior producers. HELI-PROP has been PRODUCER OF THE YEAR or at least in the top 5 spot for that bragging rite nearly every year for the past 12 years, even though HELI-PROP died on August 24, 2000. JASMIN has also produced several field champions to date. In fact, BLAZER's littermate sister is the late great IFC MURRAY'S HOLLY PROP owned by Dick Doyle of New York state. HOLLY PROP won the BETTER BEAGLING PACK HOUND AWARD for the 13" Bitch class in 2002 with 7 wins and numerous placings. BLAZER's littermate brother is FWR MURRAY'S LITTLE TIPPY owned by Joe Leech of New York state. TIPPY is also an excellent hound that should finish for his AKC field champion title before the end of 2003. I also want to take this opportunity to once again personally thank Murray F. Reid of Nova Scotia, CANADA (the breeder and former owner of BLAZER), for selling such a great dog; Murray made a very smart decision in breeding his bitch JASMIN to Branko Krpan's dog HELI-PROP while he had the chance.

Every Beagle in the world has faults, no matter how great of a Beagle they are or were and BLAZER is no exception. I will say here and now "for the record" that BLAZER has two minor faults that are all three brought on by his extreme competitiveness to get a rabbit up and moving so he can drive it in a circle while he is leading the pack. To prevent any rumors, I will spell out these minor faults right here on his stud ad. Remember, most rumors are started out of jealousy and all I can say is make the effort to see the dog run and make your own judgments rather than believe things you might hear floating around in the rumor mill.

Minor fault #1: BLAZER has a little extra mouth in the check area. It is not bad, but it has happened on a few occasions when he is working out a check. The fact still remains that BLAZER is always making forward progress and he gets twice as much accomplished as most dogs in the same pack. In fact, in most of his current 10 licensed trial wins, according to the field trial judges that judged him that day, they said BLAZER had double the score over the fourth place hound and in several cases he even had double the score over the second place hound. That is what I call "dominating the pack" in the true sense of the words.

Minor fault #2: BLAZER does not have a big bawl mouth like some Beaglers like to hear. BLAZER has a short chop and squall mouth that sounds like a "yip". This bark is normally heard way out in front of the pack which is where you will often find BLAZER running, or it is the first bark you will hear after a loss because BLAZER is the one that just picked up the check and claimed the line. I wish he had a big bawl mouth or a powerful, machine gun chop mouth, but he works with the voice that genetics has given him. I will say this, his tonguing is unique and he is easily heard running in a Large Pack field trial. The combination of his mouth and his superior running abilities will give most Beaglers a touch of goose bumps - he is truly that exciting to watch in action. Noteworthy, None of his pups have had his mouth, they often resembling the dam’s mouth.

Both of these faults are only considered a minor faults by some conservative field trial judges. Most judges do not even consider them a fault or at least anything worth noting as long as the dog has the following three strong points and these are actually just three of BLAZER's many strong points: (1) constantly making forward progress; ( 2)getting tons of work accomplished, and (3) always accounting for the game. I know most rabbit and hare hunters would not consider these minor field trial faults as something of concern to them because accomplishment and accountability are truly the name of the game when hunting. JUST A THOUGHT: When is the last time you saw a Beagle stud ad that listed all of that stud dog's faults right in the ad?

BLAZER was normally run in Large Pack on hare or Small Pack Option on rabbit/hare trials on weekends; and he was always run during the week either solo or in small packs with 2 or 3 other field champions strictly on cottontails. You are always welcome to bring along the best dog in your kennel and drop it down with BLAZER to run cottontails so you have a yardstick to measure and judge BLAZER's abilities for yourself; don't rely solely on field trial judges - be your own judge as well. I am very serious when I say that this dog can literally do it all, Large Pack or Small Pack Option -- either on hares or cottontails.

If you want to take your breeding program to a higher level of quality and be competitive in the field trials or to simply breed a better strain of hunting Beagle, then you need to come and give BLAZER a try. You will not be disappointed in the least with this small but very dominating little male!

I have been breeding my best quality bitches to BLAZER and like what I see so far. One pup in her second week at a running pen (she was straight out of my starting pen, never in the wild) ws dropped on Tuesday night with 2 others. Wednesday morning the other two were caught but not her. Wednesday evening 3 more were dropped on her because she couldn’t be caught. Thursday morning the 3 were caught but not her she was still running. Thursday evening she was under the trailer, waiting to be caught. Talk about bottom, for a pup less than a year old. Not all of his pups can run 48 hours continuously, but ALL have displayed excellent conformation, desire, speed and athleticism. How many IFCs are still alive out of IFC Branko’s Heli-Prop? At least one IFC MURRAY'S LITTLE BLAZER.
